ANNOUNCING THE BENEFIT RECORD ‘BOUNTIFUL DAY’
A song of hope for the Ukrainian people.
In support of the Ukrainian families displaced to Sussex, local recording artists SINFÖNICCA have created the benefit single ‘Bountiful Day’ with £5 from each sale going to benefit displaced Ukrainian families in Chichester, West Sussex.
Bountiful day is a symphonic rock version of the traditional Ukrainian folk song Shchedryk, known in English as “The Little Swallow”. Shchedryk is a shchedrivka, which encapsulates a message of hope for a better future with the coming spring.
In 1916, Shchedryk was arranged by Mykola Leontovych, its famous four note motif reveals the optimistic and uplifting story of a swallow flying into a household to sing of the good fortune that will come with the new harvest.
‘Bountiful Day’ is especially appropriate considering the fact that Leontovych was murdered by a Soviet agent in 1921.
Bountiful Day is dedicated to the Memory of Serhii Podlyanov - A two day old baby boy, murdered in 2022 in his maternity hospital by a rocket fired on Putin’s orders.
